My works bridge the real and ordinary of life into a surreal colorful backdrop of mark making and layering of colors and mediums. In my process no step or mark is a mistake…it is simply a step into a much larger and deeper expression of meaning.

I release any need of control over the piece and relinquish myself to a much larger world of self-expression where anything is possible on the canvas. Using a myriad of materials and mediums, including acrylics, paint pens, gels, washes, modeling pastes, paper, fabric, beads, sequence etc. I create layer upon layer, providing the space and freedom to cover up, restart, wipe away, and change paths many times along the way.

Changing my mind is very much a part of my process, as it is in our daily lives. It allows me to honor my intuitive mind and my ever-changing present moment. I remain very playful & spontaneous in my art-making, keeping my attention & focus on the actual process of exploring, experimenting & discovering as opposed to a preconceived notion or idea of what the final outcome will be, allowing my subject matter to simply emerge organically.

Each brushstroke, dab and drip of paint, every emotion, thought and decision is an important and integral ingredient leading to my final outcome. In every piece intertwined are so many stories, emotions, intentions, hidden within and underneath each layer of paint. Each mark tells a story of its own; every droplet of paint contains an entire world within it. “You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.” -Rumi
